An Underwater View of Tiger Swallowtails

This week I got a shot I’ve been trying to get for a while. Butterflies like to eat the minerals from the soil around the Rivanna River, especially where Trevilian’s Creek enters the river. This week they were in bunches getting nourishment, so I put my camera underneath the stream, and the butterflies kept flying over. (Of their own volition… I’ve tried to herd them into doing this before, but to no avail. They will not be herded!)

The first footage is at normal speed, and then slowed down. The next edits are all at normal speed. Butterflies are fast!
